Membership Information

Membership in Delta Lambda Phi is open to males and identifying males of all races, colors, creeds, and sexual orientation, upon chapter approval and after satisfying national requirements for rushing and pledging. Rushing and Pledging occur each Fall and Spring.

Rushing the Fraternity

The Rush period is a time for current chapter members to become acquainted with you and for you to get to know us. Twice yearly Beta Eta holds rush weeks. During rush week, we invite interested men to attend as many activities as possible to decide if you're right for us and we're right for you. Rush usually spans a one or two week time period and at the end, the chapter extends Bids to those who we believe align with our organization. Receiving a bid offers you the chance to begin the process of pledge education and your journey to becoming a Brother of the Beta Eta Chapter.

Pledge Education Program

The Pledge Education Program is a 6 - 9 week program which all potential members of Delta Lambda Phi National must successfully complete. Its goals are to:

  • Educate pledges in the traditions of the Beta Eta Chapter and the National Organization.
  • Instruct pledges in the chapter's business and activities by guiding the class through similar projects and inviting you to attend our similar functions.
  • Cultivate the development of the fraternal bond among Pledge Brothers and between Pledge Brothers and Brothers of the chapter.

We accomplish these goals through a variety of activities and projects which the fraternity expects all pledges to participate in. These activities include (but are not limited to):

  • Weekly pledge meetings.
  • Meeting with and interviewing individual Brothers for your signature book.
  • Retreat (weekend-long event).
  • Service Project (planned by Pledge Class).
  • Fundraiser (planned by Pledge Class).
  • Night of Madness (large-scale party planned by Pledges for Chapter).
  • Final Exam.

While the details vary from Pledge Class to Pledge Class, all Brothers have gone through reasonably similar programs, and any Brother can discuss the basic elements of the Pledge Program with you. For more detailed information on the current Pledge Program, e-mail the chapter for more information.

Hazing

Delta Lambda Phi National Social Fraternity observes a no-hazing policy:

  • There shall be no hazing or informal initiation in connection with the functions of any chapter. The mistreatment of pledges, members, or other persons at any time shall be considered a violation of the purposes of the National Fraternity.
