IOTA :: History

That in the year One Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty Six. Eighteen men assembled in the Capitol of the United States of America. That theses men pledged themselves towards promoting dignified and purposeful, social and recreational activities for all. Regardless of race color, creed or sexual preference. That from this assembly some would travel to other locales Sharing a common vision of equality and friendship. That these men in word and deed sought to advance justice through goodwill. That others joined this brotherhood. And that on this day we share this bond with others.

The Iota Chapter was founded by a young man Named William Collins, a student of California State University of Sacramento. We officially became a chapter on November 4th, 1989

Iota started as a multi-campus based fraternity. Brothers came from CSU of Sacramento, American River College, Sacramento City College and other Educational Insistutions in the Greater Sacramento Region.

Iota became one of the first chapters of DLP to petition to join the Internal Fraternity Council (IFC) at CSU Sacramento. Thus doing so, the chapter's chartered as a Campus based fraternity only allowing members of CSU Sacramento to rush. Current brothers, those of other Educational Insistutions at the time where issued alumni status.

With high demand and interest in the community, Iota once again changed it's charter to a Community Based Chapter. Thus meaning anyone in the community can rush. Iota left the IFC once and for all. The Lambda Men of Iota are gathering, making there presence known.
