Interested in making your presence make a difference?
Then Delta Lambda Phi at Iowa State is the group for you!
We have a very straightforward process for becoming a brother, which is detailed below. We look for men committed to making their community better places for everyone to live. We work hard and we play hard together. We’re doing some great things here at ISU and we’d love for you to be a part of it.
Our Joining Process
Step 1 – Recruitment
Recruitment is a 2-3 week period filled with social events where interested men like you have an opportunity to learn 1 more about Delta Lambda Phi and interact with the brothers in a relaxed environment. There are typically 4-6 events during this time, so there are plenty of opportunities to get to know us. We’ve done everything from video game mixers to ice skating to corn mazes. Just be yourself. If you’re interested in joining, please click the Application for Membership link above and provide us with some more information about yourself.
Step 2 – Bid Night
At the end of Recruitment, Bids (or formal invitations to join) are delivered to the Potential New Members who we believe would be a good fit for our organization. It’s less scary than it sounds.
Step 3 – Induction
If you choose to accept your Bid, you’ll be inducted into the fraternity as a new member with a formal ceremony. This is a way for us to welcome you to the brotherhood. Break out your khakis.
Step 4 – New Member Education
If you are inducted into the fraternity, you become a new member. By becoming a new member, you have agreed to undergo our New Member Education Program or NME. NME is a 6-8 week course designed to teach you about the history of our fraternity, the history of all Greek-letter organizations, the symbols and traditions of our organization and help you create bonds with the other new members and brothers. This course is organized like any class at Iowa State. There is a weekly lecture with in-class discussions and activities, homework assignments and a group project that the new member class with do together.
We expect only the best from our new members and our program is designed to challenge you. Not everyone who begins the program will finish it. We take this process very seriously, as we only initiate the best members into our family. However, during this time, you will be assigned a “big brother” to assist you with this process.
Step 5 – Initiation
After the successful completion of NME, you will be initiated as a full member of our fraternity. This entire process is free of hazing or harassment. Iowa State University and Delta Lambda Phi have very strict zero tolerance hazing policies.
If this sounds like something you’d like to be a part of, please fill out the contact form provide us with some more information about yourself. We can’t wait to hear from you!
