January 2012 Centaur All-Star: Brother Nicholas Simons!
February 14, 2012
Please join us in congratulating Brother Nicholas Simons as the December 2011/January 2012 Centaur All-Star. Brother Simons is one of the founding members of the recently chartered Beta Psi Chapter at the University of Central Florida. He was nominated by Br. Josh Powell, alumnus of the Alpha Chapter and current Fraternity CIO. Below is an excerpt of Br. Powell’s nomination submission:
Nicholas is the true embodiment of a leader, not only within the Fraternity but in the UCF campus community as well. Nick stepped up to be the then-Colony president when his predecessor was unable to continue in the role due to personal circumstances. He did this even with his other commitments to the student Senate and his research position as a student employee. Nick has taken the role of President and made it a vehicle to ensure the success of the Beta Psi Chapter through strong organizational skills and through providing opportunities to his fellow Brothers to take ownership of the Chapter via committee and officer assignments. Nick has provided a strong example of both business organization and academic success, helping to completely rewrite Beta Psi’s bylaws while maintaining a 4.0 GPA in his classes. Nick does all of this without seeking recognition for himself, instead letting the success of the Chapter stand for his accomplishments. One other accomplishment: Nick became the first Colonist to serve as the National Convention’s Parliamentarian in 2011, helping to run a very busy business meeting and provide for its success.
