TCNJ Colony Named Colony of the Year!
August 23, 2013
A big congratulations to our colony at The College of New Jersey for being named “Colony of the Year” at Convention 2013!!
The TCNJ Colony exemplifies the characteristics of a strong colony based on their performance in the Delta Lambda Phi Standards of Excellence (SOE) program, which assesses colony/chapter health through several different categories. These categories include: integrity, community, academic achievement & scholarship, recruitment & retention, alumni relations, greek affairs & campus involvement, and finances.
SOE data was provided by the colonies & chapters of DLP after the end of the spring semester. Reports were then compiled and initially scored by the Regional Directors according to a common set of guidelines and standards. These initial scores were then reviewed for accuracy and confirmed by the Vice President for Administration and two other staffers. The three of them reviewed all SOE reports. The Executive Director of Delta Lambda Phi then randomly selected two chapter SOE reports from each region and all colony SOE reports, independently graded them, and re-confirmed all scores. The two staff organizing the effort, the Vice President of Administration, and the Executive Director – each independently – ranked candidates for Chapter of the Year and Colony of the Year to submit as recommendations to the Board of Directors. These rankings were unanimous among the four of them. The Board of Directors met, discussed the findings and recommendations of the SOE process, reviewed several of the original SOE reports submitted, and selected the award recipients.
The Board of Directors and the Fraternity Office both agreed that the TCNJ Colony performed exceptionally over the past year. Through blood drives, volunteering at nursing homes, and Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, the TCNJ Colony have proven to their community that they are here to make their presence make a difference! Additionally, the colony has proven successful in the many other categories of the DLP Standards of Excellence, including academic achievement and fundraising efforts (finances).
CONGRATS!! Way to make your presence make a difference 🙂
