Staff Member of the Quarter (2013-4): Br. Steven Dashiell!
October 29, 2013
A big thanks to Brother Steven Dashiell for his hard work as Alumni Services Director for the Delta Lambda Phi Fraternity Office! Steven has been recognized as Fraternity Office Staff Member of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2013.
Brother Dashiell is an alumnus of the Alpha Chapter of DLP in Washington, DC and also the former Alpha Epsilon Chapter of DLP in Baltimore, MD. Steven is still actively contributing to the Fraternity through his many hours of work for the Office of Alumni Services, providing an abundance of programming and events for the thousands of Delta Lambda Phi alumni. Steven has been a critical component of the Fraternity Office November 2011 and is responsible for helping onboard several new Local Alumni Associations (LAAs). It’s also important to note that Steven previously served DLP on a (then National) level as Risk Management Coordinator from April 2003 – December 2005 and as Chair of the Board of Director ad hoc committee on Retention from 2002-2003.
The Fraternity’s Director of Events, Br. Wade Price, nominated Br. Dashiell for this award, saying:
“Steven has brought new life into Alumni Services. He was originally recruited to assist with the reorganization of alumni affairs, but worked to create a new and critical department for the Fraternity Office, and to present a strong and consistent voice for alumni in operations. Some of his successes include:
- Applying social science research through the launch of the Alumni Relations Survey, which provided the Fraternity valuable information on our growing population of alumni.
- Organizing alumni-specific events for the past two Conventions.
- Promoting DLP Fit, and encouraging the Brotherhood to stay active.Steven balances all this with a full time job, part time teaching, a PhD program, and Fraternity work without any hint of stress. And while he is known for his “direct” style of communication, he’s always driven by the Fraternity’s best interests.”
