Spring 2014 Conferences: Recap

April 21, 2014

Conference season was a big success this past spring with nearly 200 Brothers from all over North America gathering for fellowship and workshops!

We kicked off the Spring 2014 Conference season in Edwardsville, IL with Central Conference. Workshop sessions included effective communication, overcoming apathy, and a preview of Convention 2014. Central Conference also featured a new component – entertainment! Saturday night featured a drag show hosted by Siren with performances from Pinko, Sum Yung Wang, and Isis Amor. It was a big success and was thoroughly enjoyed by all attendees.

Conference season continued to be successful with Eastern Conference in Philadelphia. With a healthy mix of alumni and active Brothers, attendees engaged in topics such as rush & recruitment, Chapter & Colony rituals, and bystander intervention. Most importantly, the Eastern Region made their Steering Committee a new priority. The newly elected Sean Mulroy, of the Alpha Chi Chapter, will be chairing their future meetings.

Finally, Brothers, colonists, pledges, and alumni from all chapters in the Western Region took over Long Beach, CA for the highest attended regional conference in DLP history! Western Conference featured an array of workshop topics including,  values recognition, recruitment,  and alumni engagement.  The weekend was a dynamic educational experience topped off with an intensive chapter leadership training Sunday afternoon. As Lambda Men of course,  it’s not just all work and no play. The Welcome Social gathered all brothers to meet new members and reconnect, all while enjoying entertainment from performers Chad Michaels and Delta Work.  Brothers also spent the weekend enjoying all that Long Beach had to offer, including taking a harbor cruise and enjoying a brunch on the shoreline.

In all Conferences, the spirit of the Lambda Centaur was with us as we reaffirmed our commitment to this brotherhood and charged on to seeking opportunities to make our presence make a difference. We’ll be exploring these topics more in a series of sessions called “Back-to-Basics: Reaffirm and Rediscover” at Convention 2014!

A big thanks to all who joined us this spring! We hope to see you in Tampa this July!
