Br. Trevor Leeper Inducted Into Order of Omega at University of Iowa

February 1, 2017

Br. Trevor Leeper, an alumnus of the Gamma Gamma Chapter at the University of Iowa, was recently inducted into the Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) Hall of Fame and the University of Iowa Order of Omega Hall of Fame. This is the first year for the recognition program, which will become an annual tradition for distinguished alumni/ae of the Fraternity and Sorority Life community at the University of Iowa. Nominations were solicited by FSL staff at the University of Iowa from fraternal organizations, alumni, students, and the community-at-large. They were then selected by the University of Iowa chapter of Order of Omega, which is an International Honor Society for high-achieving Fraternity and Sorority Life leaders.

Br. Leeper was selected based on the following criteria:

  • Distinguished service to their Fraternity/Sorority or Interfraternal Community
  • Dedication and commitment to the University of Iowa, Iowa City Area, and the State of Iowa
  • Exemplary contributions to community reflecting the pillars of the University of Iowa Fraternity and Sorority Life Community (i.e., Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Friendship)
  • Celebrated lifelong achievements

We asked Trevor about their reaction when they found out they were being honored:

“I was thrilled, astounded, and literally did not expect it! One of my chapter’s active members randomly asked for my resume and any service work I did while at the University of Iowa, claiming such information was needed for a potential recruitment slideshow featuring alumni. My main worry at the time was to make sure that Harrison, the Brother who asked for my information, was able to make the “deadline” he had been given. I did not know what was actually happening until a few days later when Harrison called to both congratulate me and let me in on the surprise. Receiving this award is one of the sweetest things anyone has ever done for me.”

Br. Leeper also had the following to share:

“I would like to thank the members of my home chapter, the Gamma Gamma Chapter at the University of Iowa, for all that they have given me and the growth I experience because of them. I would not be the individual I am today without the love, kindness, challenge, and support I receive from my chapter’s active members and our alumni. To members everywhere, always appreciate one another, lean on each other, and recognize the time, talent, and effort that you all give to Delta Lambda Phi. Cherish those around you, both individuals on your own campus and within our brotherhood as a whole. Each of us holds different perspectives and at times we do not agree with each other. However, it is through finding common ground and learning from one another that we continue to make a positive difference in the lives of so many people. Without each and every one of you, we would not be the organization that we are todayIn the Bond of Brotherhood, forever and always.”

Trevor, along with the other inductees and their families, will be invited to the annual Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards program at the University of Iowa, which will be held on April 30, 2017 in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union.

Congratulations Trevor! We are proud of you for making your presence make a difference!
