The Delta Chapter of Delta Lambda Phi® Social Fraternity was founded in 1988 as a social fraternity for Progressive Men who were attending the University of Minnesota. Founded as the 4th chapter of ΔΛΦ, Delta Chapter is the longest consecutively operating campus-based fraternity for gay, bi, transgender and progressive men. Our Brothers have been involved with many other groups at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, in the gay community, and in the community at large. We provide an opportunity for students to strengthen their personal and academic lives.
As a non-profit organization, Delta Lambda Phi® is organized for social and recreational purposes. More specifically, the Fraternity’s purposes also include enhancing the quality of life among gay, bisexual and progressive men by providing dignified and purposeful social, service and recreational activities.
Delta Lambda Phi® makes a positive and lasting difference in the lives of our Brothers and our community. Our commitment to social justice, friendship, and personal growth is reflected through making our presence make a difference. Our Brotherhood is committed to friendship with all and we welcome those who aspire to share our vision.
To realize our vision, members of Delta Lambda Phi® adhere to these principles:
-To develop dignified and purposeful, social, service, and recreational activities for progressive men, irrespective of sexual orientation.
-To lead in determining the rights and privileges of individuals in society.
-To present a strong and positive image, which respects the diversity of all individuals, irrespective of sexual orientation.
Delta Lambda Phi® is modeled after many other collegiate Greek societies. It has a formal pledging process, a coat of arms, a fraternity pin, an annual convention, and chapter programs that conform to National Interfraternity Council policies.
