February 3, 2017

Meet our Brother of the Month for February, Theta class member, Austin Adams!Austin

Forest City, IA

Political Science, Economics, Ethics and Public Policy

The most important role of any member in society, regardless of their occupation, is to advocate for the advancement of their own home and their community. I joined Delta Lambda Phi to further my role in service, engagement, and advocacy for my community. I wanted to help lead conversations and activities that further expand our society, and I get to do that every day in Delta Lambda Phi.

The people. I joined for a cause, but the family came with it. There isn’t a single person in the Chapter that I don’t care significantly about, and I know they feel the same way about me.

I am the President of the Hawkeye Optimist Chapter, a service-based student organization that serves the disadvantaged youth of our community. I supervise the Burge Residence Hall front desk. I am a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science Honors Fraternity, as well as Phi Eta Sigma National Honors Society.

I generally spend my free time with friends and family.

I have an embarrassingly large obsession with giraffes.

After my undergraduate studies, I plan on going to graduate school in a joint PhD program in Public Policy and Political Science. Afterwards, I plan to spend my life working for nonprofit organizations that focus on advocacy and policymaking, as well as eventually running for a public office.
