Delta Lambda Phi’s Anti-Hazing Policy
There shall be no hazing or informal initiation in connection with the functions of any Chapter. Any mistreatment of pledges, members, or other persons at any time shall be considered a violation of the Fraternity’s and Chapter’s purposes.
Chapters shall not indulge in any physical or mental abuse or undignified treatment (hazing) of any pledge, member, or guest. Hazing is generally defined as any action taken or situation created regardless of intent, location, or consent of the participants, which produces or is reasonably likely to produce bodily danger or physical harm, mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule. Such activities and situations include, but are not limited to, paddling in any form, creation of excessive fatigue, physical and psychological shocks, the forced consumption of alcohol, wearing apparel that is conspicuous and not normally in good taste, engaging in any public stunts and buffoonery, morally degrading or humiliating games and activities, late work sessions that interfere with academic activity, and any other activities that are not consistent with fraternal principles, established rituals, policies of the Fraternity or host educational institution, or local, state and federal law. Any activity as described above, upon which the initiation or admission into or affiliation with the Chapter is directly or indirectly conditioned, or implied to be conditioned, or which occurs during a pre-initiation or initiation activity, shall be presumed to be compelled activity, the willingness of an individual to participate in such an activity notwithstanding.
If you are aware of hazing involving any Delta Lambda Phi Chapter or Colony, you can report it online, anonymously, and the matter will be investigated immediately.
