Job Summary
The communications coordinator will assist the communications director in the discovery, research and reporting of newsworthy stories within the fraternity, along with writing copy for various marketing materials. The coordinator will create well-researched and accurate content within limited deadlines. They must be comfortable working with various potential interview sources, including active members, alumni members and fraternity leadership.
Essential Functions
Work with the communications director to identify potential story ideas and turn them into a published product on deadline
Write engaging content that conveys the fraternity’s overall mission, vision and purposes
Proactively brainstorm story ideas
Research and organize facts and sources
Interview multiple sources per story
Required Qualifications
Excellent written communication skills, including spelling and grammar
Excellent interpersonal skills to clearly communicate their ideas and interview sources
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in a team environment in a remote, asynchronous setting
Preferred Qualifications
Experience writing news stories for an organization
Education in Journalism, Communication Studies, English, Marketing or similar

Less than 5 hours per week on average
