Job Summary
The Director of Events for Delta Lambda Phi is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a wide range of events to enhance the fraternity’s mission, engage members, and contribute to the overall success of the organization. This role requires an agile and strategic thinker with strong organizational and leadership skills, as well as a passion for fostering a positive and inclusive fraternity culture.
This role will be tasked with planning and leading the fraternity’s annual convention, conferences, staff retreats, and work with chapter services for charting and alumni events.
Responsibilities
Event Planning and Execution
Develop and implement a comprehensive events calendar aligning with fraternity’s goals and values, and ensuring the organization successfully meets all requirements as described in the bylaws.
Plan and execute a variety of events including the annual convention, conferences and staff retreats, and work with chapter services to assist in charting and alumni events.
Coordinate logistics, including venue selection, catering, audiovisual equipment, and other event-related services.
Collaboration
Lead the ad hoc planning committees for convention, conferences, etc.
Collaborate with other fraternity officers, committees, and external partners to ensure seamless execution of events.
Budget Management
Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficient use of resources.
Work with Delphi and Director of Fundraising to secure sponsorship or donations for select events.
Marketing and Promotion
Develop marketing strategies to promote events and increase attendance.
Utilize various communication channels, including social media, email blasts, and the fraternity website, to effectively reach and engage members.
Member Engagement
Regularly seek feedback from active members and attendees at events to continually improve event offerings and satisfaction.
Risk Management
Implement safety protocols and ensure adherence to all fraternity risk management policies for events, ensuring the safety and well-being of attendees.
Collaborate with relevant fraternity officers to address any potential issues or concerns.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain detailed records of event planning, execution, and outcomes.
Provide regular reports to fraternity leadership on the success and opportunities of each event.
Qualifications
Alumnus of Delta Lambda Phi
Bachelor's degree preferably in event management, hospitality management, business administration, or a related technical field
Proven experience in event planning and execution, preferably in a not-for-profit or community setting
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
Knowledge of budget management and fundraising techniques
Understanding of risk management policies

Workload
Candidate should expect a fluctuating workload depending on events schedule but should average roughly 5 – 10 hours per week of commitment.
Some travel required to run events (convention, conferences)
